Frequently asked questions.
How often do we roast?
We roast as often as necessary to ensure that our production matches our demand. We have strategies in place to ensure that all of our customers have the freshest coffee possible. Any coffee that you received is roasted within 2-7 days of receiving. Freshly roasted coffee needs some time to off-gas to ensure that you have the best flavor possible.
Why does coffee need time to degas?
When coffee is first roasted it is crucial to allow sufficient time for degassing to occur to ensure that your coffee doesn’t have a sharp, metallic or acidic taste due to CO2 interacting with water to form carbonic acid.
How long will it take for my coffee to arrive?
You can expect anywhere from 2-5 days for delivery on average. We are a New Jersey based company so the closer you are the shorter the delivery time.
How long will my coffee stay fresh?
Unopened coffee can stay fresh for 3-6 months or longer. That being said the longer you wait to consume your coffee the greater the likelihood of stale tasting coffee. We like to recommend that you consume your coffee within 2 weeks of opening it and no later than a month from the roasting date for optimal flavor.
Is whole bean better than ground coffee?
We always recommend whole bean over ground coffee. When coffee is ground it significantly increases the coffee’s surface area, thus allowing for greater exposure to oxygen, light, heat, and moisture. Leaving the beans whole and waiting until just before brewing to grind is the best option when possible.
When will you offer new coffee origins?
Given that we are a newly established company we have decided to begin our journey with a coffee that everyone can easily relate to. Columbian coffee being both complex and bold has a very close flavor profile to what most coffee drinkers are used to. We are actively taste testing various new origins and will release them in the coming weeks.
